Legal Assistant

Job title:
Legal Assistant
Closing date:
28 January 2022

We are Scotland's only listed housebuilder. We operate as Springfield, Dawn Homes, Walker Group, Tulloch Homes and Springfield Partnerships (focusing on affordable housing). We specialize in off-market sites and large 'village' sites across Scotland, including Durieshill, near Stirling, the largest residential planning application in Scotland in 2019.

We build homes across Scotland. We've been around since 1956 – and we moved into house building in the early 1990s. We've been growing steadily ever since, and today we build over 1,000 homes a year.

Our legal team consists of a general counsel based in Glasgow and an experienced solicitor based in Elgin. The team deals with all legal functions for the group. You will have the chance to be involved with property, corporate, regulation, construction, litigation, banking, health & safety, planning and employment matters.

About You:

  • You believe everyone in Scotland deserves a decent home;
  • You believe speaking to someone is better than writing to them;
  • You can write in plain English;
  • You are organized and able to work on your own (after direction); and
  • You may not have all of the above experience, but you can show a desire to learn.

About the Role:

We are looking for a temporary legal assistant between April and Aug 2022 to assist a team of two lawyers. The work will cover all legal issues, and you will be given work equivalent to that of a first-year trainee solicitor, including projects linked to Springfield's landbank of sites across Scotland. You will also assist our land team of five staff dealing with private and affordable sites and work closely with architects and our after-sales customer service teams. You will be expected to work both from an office and from home as required and in line with COVID regulations. It would be preferable for you to spend time in the office (if possible, practical and safely) with our legal team to help with your training. We have offices in Glasgow, Larbert, Inverness and Elgin.

Salary will be equivalent to Law Society first-year trainee lawyer salary.

If you want to know more, please call our general counsel, Andrew Todd, on 07595167554.
