Constructed in conjunction with Clyde Valley Housing Association, these homes were designed and built with a focus on energy efficiency.

Utilising under floor heating, this system is able to work on a lower heat than traditional radiators resulting in reduced monthly bills for the customer. The system also requires less maintenance and is less intrusive – freeing up wall space and maximising where furniture can be kept.

The under floor heating has been paired with air source heat pumps. This clever technology works in a similar way to a refrigerator, but in reverse.

There were many challenges to overcome at Milton of Campsie. The development was an unsightly and dangerous brownfield site. It was an eyesore, a fire hazard and encouraged fly tipping.

As a developer with strong experience of regenerating neglected pockets of land, Springfield rose to the challenge.

It took at least six months to safely clear the site and treat the contaminated areas. We also replaced the walls and roof of the substation to make it safe once again.

When the site was home to the factory, the river flow had been altered to suit development. Due to the sensitive ecological works at the burn, Springfield worked in conjunction with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency to attempt to create more natural banking and restoring the river path.

Now the site has been completely regenerated as a safe and attractive residential pocket in the village. It has brought new families into the community and created an affordable opportunity to keep families, who are from Milton of Campsie originally, in the area. This will in turn have a knock on effect for the vibrancy of local businesses.

The 13 homes were handed over in January 2016.
