Alison Stewart - Resident at Milton of Campsie
We were living in a two bedroom flat in Lennoxtown with East Dunbartonshire Council before we moved to Milton of Campsie. We were happy there but when I fell pregnant we decided to look at homes with more space, preferably with a garden for the baby.
When we got the call explaining there was a home in Milton of Campsie with Clyde Valley Housing Association we were really excited to see it. The main things we wanted were a large private garden, a safe neighbourhood and our own front door.
The house was perfect. We were really impressed with it and we moved in at the end of January 2016. The rooms are great sizes and having built in wardrobes has been really helpful. The layout works well for us; our son can run in from outside to use the downstairs toilet so that’s been really handy to have. We aren’t overlooked, nor do we overlook anyone, we can hear the river when we sit outside and we have a very large garden. Exactly what we wanted.
You can tell it’s a good quality home that has been built well too. We’re saving around £20 a month in gas and electric bills compared to the flat we were in before and now we’re in a larger house! The under-floor heating certainly helps with this. There is something very satisfying about walking around on a warm floor.
Springfield After Sales have been very responsive. I had a fault with the downstairs toilet once. I’d reported it to Springfield and within a few minutes Cammy, the Site Manager, was at my door with a plumber to have a look at it. All of the site workers are so considerate and friendly – they’re part of the community too!
There are lots of families in the affordable homes at Milton of Campsie with kids the same age as mine and because of the great space out front, they all play on their bikes or scooters. They’ll all go to the same school too so my son will have friends which I hope will make the first day less daunting for them.
We are very happy in our new home, there is already a lovely community vibe in the development, the area is remarkable and the development is peaceful and safe. We couldn’t recommend Springfield or Clyde Valley Housing Association enough.
