Shona 1 new crop edit 464We've been in our home now for just over a year. We were probably looking, on and off, for about 3 or 4 years.

We'd look at other house builders in Elgin but for the space comparison we were swayed toward the Springfield homes. We looked in Inverness as well but the homes we saw there were even smaller and for the price, even with the sunroom added on, we just wouldn't have got anywhere near the floor space from the other builders.

We looked exclusively at new builds. Neither myself or my partner Keith are DIY folk. We were just looking for something you could move straight into. It's simply a case of buying the furniture and not having to worry about knocking down walls and stuff.

living room 464bedroom 2 464We know well of the good reputation Springfield have in this area. A lot of our friends have Springfield homes so we knew that the home would be finished to a very high standard and Keith had actually lived previously in a Springfield home at Mannachie Grove.

I made most of the Choices decisions as Keith works offshore. The bathrooms, I'm really happy with them and the kitchen, we're really happy with that as well.

kitchen 464I have a black kitchen in my Edinburgh flat and I wanted the complete opposite of that, so I knew I wanted white units.  We basically went for the same kitchen as the showhome but upgraded all the units. I changed my mind on the worktops. They were going to be grey but then I changed them to black and I did the same with the tiles in one of the bathrooms.

Bathroom 464I'm not always the most decisive but Springfield Sales Manager, Joyce Napier was a big help in advising us, particularly when it came to the bathrooms. It's actually a really good thing when you can choose so many things.

Sales Advisor, Cisca Cameron helped with a few decision on colours. I'd decided, because we get the walls painted, to pick colours for some of the bedrooms to brighten them up. We also coloured one wall in the lounge. I'd picked a colour for the hall but Cisca, in a very positive manner, advised differently and I'm very thankful for that.

We also went for the sunroom and we're very glad we did. It's done so much for the floor space, the whole kitchen area feels so big and anyone that comes in actually can't believe the size of it. I think it's deceiving from the outside but then you come in and you can't believe just how much space there is. If we didn't have the sunroom the kitchen would still have been quite a big space but this has just made a huge difference.

The big bonus for anyone wanting to buy a Springfield home is that it's actually a very personal experience. It doesn't feel like you're just dealing with a huge company, like I have done in the past. The whole experience is very personal and everyone is very friendly and nothing is any hassle.
