Affordable homes at Milton of Campsie shortlisted for award
13 homes in Milton of Campsie, built by Springfield Properties, have been nominated for the Affordable Development of the Year award by Homes for Scotland.
Delivered in partnership with Clyde Valley Housing Association, the two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom homes caught the eye of the Homes for Scotland judges.
Managing Director for Affordable housing at Springfield Properties, Tom Leggeat has said:
“We’re really pleased the 13 homes at Milton of Campsie have been recognised by one of the leading housing bodies in Scotland. Being shortlisted is a great accomplishment for all of the team that have worked on the homes and highlights to the industry the quality of developments Springfield achieve.
“The homes exceeded energy efficiency standards at the time of design with innovative heating systems paired with under floor heating and solar panels, reducing running costs for the residents.
“This was the first project we had worked on with Clyde Valley – since then we’ve completed two further projects together and have recently secured deals for 100 new homes in Hamilton and 49 in Carluke.”
Former home to the Lilyburn print works, the site had lain abandoned since closure of the factory in 1980’s and had become an eyesore over time. Tom continued:
“We had lots of challenges to overcome with this project. The land was in a state of disrepair. It was unsightly and dangerous. It took six months alone to clear the land ready for construction.
“We were also restricted with space due to the limited size of the developable land and close proximity of the neighbouring River Glazert. But within a year, the hard work had paid off and we handed over 13 homes to Clyde Valley Housing association, on time, in a regenerated residential pocket in the Milton of Campsie village.”
The Homes for Scotland Award winners will be announced at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre this month.
