12 September 2013

At the awards ceremony in Inverness on Thursday (September 26) Springfield, collected the Highland Business Awards’ top title in addition to being presented with the Outstanding Performing Business of the Year accolade for companies with more than 25 employees.

The latest results add to a growing number of leading awards won by a Scottish house builder whose managing director, Innes Smith, is delighted with his company’s continuing success.

The company sets high standards for their staff and the homes they build throughout Scotland. Looking after customers and building high quality homes is central and led to Springfield being named Scottish House Builder of the Year in June 2013.

Springfield Properties have won multiple awards over the past year and more. This Inverness Chamber of Commerce Highland Business Awards’ top accolade is a particularly welcome honour that comes from the company’s peers within the region where it was established in 1956.

Stewart Nicol, chairman of the judges and chief executive of Inverness Chamber of Commerce is delighted that the judges’ decision was unanimous for both awards,

“The scale of Springfield’s achievements at every level are truly remarkable – they are extremely worthy winners. Springfield’s ethos, focus and performance are absolutely impressive. The focus on their customer, staff and business model is paying dividends for the company who are showing notable achievements against almost any measure you would want to judge them by.

“What also impressed us about the company was the fact that all of these remarkable achievements had been delivered against an extremely challenging and difficult backdrop for their sector. Springfield Properties are rightly ambitious and their growth into new regions and sectors also impresses the judges.”

Managing Director Innes Smith is clear about the root of the company’s success,

“We go the extra mile for our customers and they like that. We put them first, build them a high quality individual home and keep on looking after them long after handover. Many highly-successful companies have come from the Highlands and Springfield Properties is proud to be counted as one of them.”

Springfield have up to 600 people working on more than 30 developments throughout Scotland and will build some 500 new homes this year. Since their formation the company has been profitable every year and posted turnover figures in 2004 of £2.4 million during which time annual growth has been substantial with a projected turnover for 2013 of £75 million. Springfield Properties has main offices at Elgin and Larbert near Stirling.
