Every year Springfield’s north and central offices select a worthy cause for staff fundraising and this year we are delighted to be lending our support in Elgin to the Moray Friends of Archie Appeal.

Launched in November 2011 the appeal aims to raise £100,000 which will enhance planned redevelopment for the children’s ward at Dr Grays by NHS Grampian and improve services for patients and their families.

Based in Elgin, the children’s ward cares for young people from all over Moray and consistently has an average occupancy of six children with winter being a particularly busy time for the unit.

It handles all general medical problems, deals with surgical situations and many specialist conditions.

The Appeal was set up in 2009 by Chris Saunderson after his son fell critically ill with double pneumonia. It was a difficult time for the whole family made easier thanks to the support of the Archie foundation.

The total raised by the Moray Friends of Archie Appeal to date stands at an impressive £87,000 and Springfield is keen to see them reach their £100,000 target.

Most everyone can relate to how frightening it is to have an ill child in hospital and we believe that anything that can be done to support the families is a more than worthy cause.

If you’d like to be more  involved in the Moray Archie appeal, either fundraising or as a committee member, simply contact Chris Saunderson on 07881915998.

 Bonus balls and bake sales

Our northern office last year backed the Elgin Youth Development Group and their youth cafe which provides a safe haven for local young people and promotes personal development.

Employees took part in a variety of fundraisers throughout 2012/13 including dress-down days, bake sales and bonus ball sales.

For the last two years in Larbert we have lent our support to Falkirk based children’s charity, River Kids who bring joy to the lives of young people living in disadvantaged circumstances. As part of this, staff donated Christmas presents to the River Kids Toy Appeal, making a difference at a special time of year for boys and girls of all ages.

 Central suggestions

Our Larbert office is now deciding on a new charity to support. If you know of a worthy cause and would like to make a recommendation, please contact the Larbert reception.
