Springfield Annnounce New Finance Director and Expansion of Workforce
Springfield Properties, has announced Michelle Motion as its new Finance Director.
With a strong background in the construction sector, Michelle joins family-owned Springfield from rival house builder Gladedale. She brings with her over two decades of homebuilding industry knowledge having also worked with Manor Kingdom and Bett.
She joins with a brief to contribute to Springfield’s growth by enhancing all aspects of finance and improving reporting and forecasting.
This appointment comes at a time when the award-winning house builder, which employs over 350 people directly, is adding to its workforce at both its Larbert and Elgin bases.
Despite increasing staff numbers by over 50 per cent from their 2012 roll call last year, as a result of increased demand for their homes; Springfield estimate that they will require a further 100 workers in 2014. In addition to growing its apprenticeship scheme, Springboard, other positions available range from site managers and quantity surveyors, through to sales and marketing positions.
With over 20 developments across the Central Belt and the North East of Scotland, Springfield attributes the continued requirement for staff to a number of factors. Springfield’s chairman Sandy Adams explains:
“The Help to Buy scheme has loosened sticky markets, making housing more affordable for many. This, coupled with building each home to suit the individual customer has meant that an increasing number of people want to buy a Springfield home. Selling more homes means more jobs, on site and in the office.
“Michelle is joining the board at a time when we are seeing sustained growth. We are excited about the wealth of industry knowledge that Michelle can give us, helping us to continue our expansion while we seek new land to acquire and deliver more developments.”
Michelle Motion added:
“Since its buyout of Redrow in Scotland three years ago, Springfield has grown steadily and I am excited to join the team as it continues to expand across Scotland. They have challenged convention in the new home market and as a result are outperforming their competitors. Their combination of spacious rooms, energy efficient home designs and the unique Springfield Choices programme has really turned homebuyers’ heads. I am already enjoying the challenge and I am looking forward to playing my part in the continuing success of Springfield.”
