Springfield sponsors Veteran Sports Athlete Award
Springfield Properties have donated two trophies to the 2014 Sport Moray Recognition Awards.
The award ceremony, held at Moray Collage, celebrated the achievements of athletes.
Gregor Ewan and Jim Gault, Para Olympian curling Bronze medallists won the Veteran Sports Athlete Award.
Unfortunately, Jim and Gregor were unable to attend the event as they are away competing this week for Great Britain. As a result Quantity Surveyor, Stuart MacGregor, presented the award to their wives Una Gault and Christine Ewan who accepted the awards on their behalf.
Kim Paterson, Sports Development Officer for Sport Moray said:
“The Veteran Sports Athlete Award category was a very close section with four very deserving shortlisted candidates, all worthy of winning the category.
“Jim and Gregor were put forward as a joint nomination after their success in the Wheelchair Curling team at the Paralympic Games where they won a bronze medal in Sochi, Russia.”
“Individually, they have had a very successful season as part of the Great Britain team with Jim winning gold in the Highland triples and in Richmond (Canada), silver in Kathy Kerr (Ottowa) and gold in the US Open in Utica.
“Gregor won gold in Denmark and Richmond (Canada), silver in Kinross International and Kathy Kerr (Ottowa), gold in US Open in Utica and bronze in the British Open.
“Since representing Team GB they have been very active visiting schools and clubs to inspire other generations. They have been true ambassadors for club, county and country.”
