A return home that felt just right

After years living in Winchburgh, just outside Edinburgh, Jacqui and her partner, Lynn, made the move back to Elgin to be closer to family and return to the area Jacqui had always called home.

While they initially planned to downsize, the couple found themselves drawn to a Roslin, a spacious four-bedroom home at Glassgreen Village, within Elgin South. With its high-quality finish and peaceful setting, Glassgreen Village quickly felt like the perfect fit for this next chapter.

After years living in the central belt, we wanted to move back up North to be close to our family. Initially, we weren’t sure what sort of home we were looking for, and we considered both new build properties and older homes that needed a bit of work.  

Glassgreen Village was the first new build development we visited, and straight away we noticed the quality of the homes and the sense of community. We looked at other new developments in the area too, but the finish just didn’t compare.

We quickly learned one of the bonuses of a Springfield home is that so many features are included as standard in the price, whereas other housebuilders would charge extra. This made a huge difference.

We had originally planned to downsize, but that idea disappeared as soon as we saw this house. The sunroom in particular was a real draw for us. It was something we’d always wanted, and now it’s our favourite room in our home. It’s south-facing, filled with light all day, and we’ve set it up as an extra sitting room where we spend so much of our time. The open-plan layout of the home is brilliant for entertaining, there’s plenty of storage, an integral garage, and the double wardrobes in every bedroom which are really practical.

We also loved that we could personalise the house to add our own character. We upgraded parts of the kitchen, added a Quooker tap, granite worktops, more sockets and spotlights, and even adjusted one of the walls so we have the option of adding double doors in future. The team at Springfield was so accommodating with all of our requests. Their communication throughout the process was fantastic, which was especially helpful as we were living three hours away at the time. 

The location in Elgin is absolutely perfect for us. We’re close to family, which has been wonderful, after being away so long. We’re beside the golf course, there are beautiful walks right from the front door, and our dog Willow loves it here. It’s peaceful, surrounded by green space and newly planted trees, and we’ve got a lovely garden that we really enjoy when the weather is good. The community has been great too – we have lovely neighbours who made us feel settled as soon as we arrived.

From that very first viewing, to helping us choose our upgrades, and the aftercare, the Springfield team, Karen, Cisca and Dawid have been brilliant throughout. Even the factoring has been excellent, something we haven’t always experienced elsewhere, and the whole development is immaculately well kept.

We’re very happy with our home, it’s given us the lifestyle we hoped for - space, comfort and family close by. Our experience with Springfield Properties has been exemplary, and Glassgreen Village truly feels like home.
