Springfield Properties raise over £700 for children’s charity
Larbert office staff at housebuilders, Springfield Properties have raised £772.79 for PLUS Forth Valley.
Each year office based employees of Springfield, one of Scotland’s leading private and affordable house builders raise money for a chosen charity.
Last year, Springfield’s Larbert based employees supported PLUS Forth Valley. PLUS aims to provide a better quality of life for children and young people with disabilities throughout the Forth Valley area. The children’s charity tailors their services to support individual needs for various age ranges.
PLUS Chief Executive Officer, Susan Fullerton said:
“Familes often describe PLUS as their home from home. We create a safe place for children and young people with disabilities to be themselves and spend time with their peers, reducing their isolation.
“We organise after school groups, weekend play sessions and evening trips. We take the children bowling or to lazer tag and host art days and spend time baking. During the school holidays we take them swimming, have picnics at the Kelpies and enjoy the Edinburgh festival.”
To fund the support that PLUS give the local community, they need half a million pounds each year. Although they receive some council, trust and foundation funding, they rely on donations to help reach the target.
“Being supported by community donations like this allows PLUS to develop new projects, try new ways of working, provide additional sessions and help to ensure our services can remain sustainable.
“The donation from Springfield is greatly appreciated. We will look to use this donation to enhance our Easter offering to children and their families. This wil be worked on over the next month for families to book in April.”
Springfield Marketing Assistant, Megan Scotland, organises fundraisers for the office. She said:
“The office fundraisers are always good fun. They boost office morale and raise money for a great cause. This year we’ve organised soup sales, bake sales bonus ball raffles and dress down days to collect money for PLUS. The office pancake day proved to be very popular too!
“PLUS really make a difference to the lives of lots of youngsters living with disability and their work supports the families too. It’s great Springfield staff have been able to contribute and help this to continue.”
